The event will feature a powerful visual installation of 20,000 teddy bears, with each bear representing a Ukrainian child who has been unlawfully deported or forcibly transferred by Russia during its war against Ukraine. Displayed downtown Bakersfield, the installation spans more than 200 feet and serves as a public call to action to bring these children home.
At 10 am we will hold a short press conference. Please come to hear your local elected officials and community activists speaking on this issue. You will have a chance to ask questions about an on going war in Ukraine and meet representatives from multiple non-profits that do humanitarian work in Ukraine and have first hand knowledge about the abducted kids issue.
The installation was created by Razom for Ukraine and was first presented in Washington, D.C. during ACU Summit in April. It was brought to California with help of American Coalition for Ukraine, Shield of Freedom and Globe4Ukraine. This coming Saturday the 11th the Teddy Bear Fence will be coming to Bakersfield, which will be its third and possibly last stop in California.
If you’re in the Bakersfield area, we’re looking for volunteers to help us on July 11. It’s a meaningful opportunity to stand with Ukraine, serve your community, and make a real difference. If you can help, please sign up for a volunteer slot here.
